Last weekend I was there. My wife’s family owns a small (57 acres) “farm” (they never farmed this land, but if was once farmed. It’s off an unpaved road, pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
She used to go there when she was little. It was a trip down memory lane for her, and she got to film some family folklore and we went hiking in the woods. There was a little brook.
It’s nice.
I spent some time talking to her grandfather too. He is an interesting guy. Racist like you would not believe, though his racism lacks the malice normally found with that level of racism. if that makes any sense.
I think I should come up with a product…”the family folklore kit”. It would include some kind of voice recorder, and some forms. you send these off and then it’s sent back to you as a book. I figure transcriptionservices are about 50 bucks an hour, that puts the services at around a grand for the whole package.
